Heading to the Beaver from Ottawa and wondering if it's quicker to do the 401/Interstate routine through Watertown and Lowville or to cross at Ogdensburg and rally through the backroads.

Have a Gazetter and navigator ridding shotgun, just looking for beta on whether the backroad route is quicker, favorite sequence, donut-eater presence, etc...

Google maps says it's 30 minutes shorter by taking the 812 south out of Ogdensburg. We use the same route to head down to the Moose and the roads are fine. Hardly see any cops on the road.
