Postby awhall1388 » Thu Dec 22, 2011 8:32 pm

Is there anyone interested in a pool sesh in the Huntsville/bracebridge area? Does anyone know if there is a sesh already being planned?

Email me at ahall@pioneercamp.ca if interested or have any details

Depending on the day I could round up two to three for a pool session. Please keep me updated!

Thanks

Well what days work for you? I think we are getting close to enough people to make it work.

Hi Folks

In the past Geoff and I have organized sessions in Bracebridge under the banner of the Cottage Country Whitewater Paddlers (CWWP)

The first year I took and loss and last year We did not get the numbers. This is what my experience has been.

We have aimed to do 6 - 2 hour sessions as people are driving a considerable distance for the sessions 2 hours makes more sense then just 1 hour. Sessions were 1 hour of free time and then 1 hour of kayak polo. Generally people seemed to enjoy this format.

Bracebridge has a nice pool with easy access for vehicles and boats. It is also centrally located for Huntsville, Parry Sound, Barrie, Orillia, and Haliburton giving the best potential Of getting the numbers required to make sessions run.

We have charge about $20 per session but you have had to pay for it all up front as you need about 16 people to cover the cost of the pool for the 6 sessions. They did not run last year because people would not commit and pay. There was a real issues with putting the money down when it was time. There was about 22 people keen but only 13 or so came forward with the money in the end. You can not reserve the pool without first paying.

Sunday early evening seemed to work well for people and the pool did and still does have free time for rentals at that time.

I am keen to participate and would be willing to help coordinate / advise a coordinator but really I do not have the time to put into it. I am happy to corridinate the payments. They can be run through the CWWP account. Geoff is the other signing authority for the club and the account.

Cheers.

HI Dave:
I agree with the 2 hour sessions as there are about 6 or 7 coming from Parry Sound. I would have trouble with the Sunday evening time. Not sure how everyone would feel about the polo for an hour. We have a few people we want to work on rolling with and certainly also want to have some time for ourself but you"re right I think the some time for polo would be fun. I agree with getting people to pay up front.

Sundays work for me. Afternoon is best and I totally agree with the 2 hour blocks. I was one of the non committal folks from last year but this year I'm in for sure. Please let me know when and where I can drop off funds to make this happen. The only Sunday I cannot make for sure is Jan 29th.

Thanks all it would be sweet if this happens this year the Bracebridge pool is really nice!

i have also been in contact with the huntsville pool. they have saturday nights free. there is a max of 15 paddlers per session. a one hour session is $113 plus $30 for 1 lifeguard. i think a 2 hour session is ideal. i have been talking to people in my area and have found many super keen for pool sessions over the winter. if we have 15 people per session it would approx cost $20 per person per session for a 2 hour session. i was honestly thinking of setting up an every other Saturday as i want to get in my boat as much as possible. i'm not sure if the huntsville pool requires up front payment or if they will take payment on the day. either place works for me but i think i would be more keen to paddle more than 6 times this winter.

thoughts?

Andrew,
Saturday nights are good for my son and I. Not sure if I can make it every other week, but I could commit to a solid six or seven session. What about you ChrisPet? Thor? JoeP?
