Adding to the carnage I destroyed a canoe this summer on the dumoine. It was the second day of a six day trip and duct tape and melted plastic held it together for the duration. All things considered the trip was the highlight of the season. Another highlight was surfing big waves on the humber in november.

Yuro,
Where on the Humber River are those pictures taken from? What time of year did you go out there? ???

It's a wonder why this run isn't more popular. This is one of the finest multidays anywhere! No waterfalls to brown I guess.

And you ran it blind.

I've only paddled Humber waves once and don't really know what levels those waves come in... I know that usually it happens after big rain or big snow melt... We paddled Humber in November... Bobbie might know the levels for "run-able" and "play-able"... The river changes a lot with levels, new waves become surfable and other waves become too dangerous to surf because they wash out into trees... I've been told that under the Bloor Street bridge there is a play spot that comes in at some levels, but I've never seen it...

Lisa,
There are some good waves Between Lawrence and James's Gardens. The higher the level the better. I've paddled this section a few times and think that at levels at around 100 m^3/s on the weston gauge and above some good waves start to come in. This is a wave we paddled in november at 145m^3/s on the gauge. It is below the huge dam below lawrence. There are some other smaller less trashy waves further down stream. I've never seen the wave below that Yuro is referring to below bloor either. There is a wave at James's gardens at medium levels Chocolate thunder which is crappy but better than not paddling. At low levels you can hit the dams between Dundas and Bloor.
