No one yet as far as I know.

I did a low flow scout in the summer two summers ago. The creekbead looks amazing. With water it would likely have lots of continuous III-IV with two Vs in the mix - one very long and complex, and the other short with with a sieve.

That being said, there was tons of wood. Due to the continuous nature of the run, I doubt counting on catching the few small eddies and portaging would be a wise move. It would be a huge mission to clear out wood. Complicating this fact is an angry landowner. I had someone waiting at the side of the creek for me when I walked back up. He has seen my car at the culvert up top and had probably waited an hour or more for me. I doubt he owns more than a bit of land at the top, but another complication.

So in other words, not really worth clearing out the wood and dealing with the angry home owner ?

It probably IS worth the effort, but it's a hell of a lot of effort...

Try coordinating at least 3-4 boaters on it, and it's not surprising it hasn't happened yet... Especially since all the people who scouted it that day live at least 1hr away...

The landowner thing also makes it really tricky because you don't know exactly how much extra effort that will entail... Could be not much, could be tons... They're mostly uppity because it's a well known trout stream.

If you live 15minutes away and are interested in paddling class V, then I think this might be something you would want to put the time into... We put a lot of time and effort into Spencers Gorge and Twenty Mile Creek, and they both paid out HUGE.

I guarantee this run is just as difficult, and WAY more dangerous than most other well known creek runs in the East (like, say, the bottom Moose), so don't even consider this one unless you're fairly comfortable on all the well known class V's...

Totally worth it, though...

I would love to be not the first group to run something on the Escarpment... Y'know, clean it and they will come.....

I should've probably said: "not be the first group in less than a decade..."

Sounds Good,
I am no where close to being ready to kayak a river like that one ( I've only kayaked once in ottawa) but I think once I gain some good experience Ill see about talking to the land owner and clearing out wood.
Just another question that has nothing to do with this topic, how do you suggest I start to get into the sport ? Should I just find some people to go with and who know what they are doing ? ShouldI take some lessons/course ? I have canoed before but want to get into a lot more white water.
Thanks for all the great information, Everett.
